Peps Mccrea welcomed at Maths Hub Conference

Peps Mccrea an award-winning teacher educator, designer and author joined colleagues at our Maths Conference on 1st July 2021. He talked to colleagues about how to build motivation for learning. Peps is Dean of Learning Design at Ambition Institute and author of the ultraconise High Impact Teaching series. Peps has three Masters degrees, Fellowships from the Young Academy and University of Brighton, and is currently doing a PhD in Teacher Expertise with the UCL Institute of Education.

In the session members explored what the science of motivation tells us about what we can do to boost pupil attention and effort in our lessons focusing on:

1. What motivation for learning is (and is not)
2. Identifying the most powerful levers for influencing motivation
3. Looking at how we might apply these ideas to the most common motivation challenges that teachers face
