Showcasing Collaborative Learning

Bolton Learning Partnership are working in collaboration with Whole Education; a dynamic network of schools and partners united in their belief that all children and young people deserve a fully rounded education.  Both organisations share a common philosophy and commitment to support members and equip them with the skills, knowledge, experience and shared learning opportunities that they need to deliver a broad, balanced and rich curriculum.  A curriculum which meets the needs of all 19K learners within Bolton.

Members from Bolton Learning Partnership are involved in a range of initiatives locally and nationally which showcase truly collaborative learning to achieve more than just great exam results for young people.  This includes recent involvement with Whole Education to pilot British Columbia’s Spirals of Enquiry Model, a framework for professional enquiry which focuses on improving inclusion for vulnerable students.  The model supports school teams to take an enquiry led, evidence informed approach to teaching and learning; one that focuses on making the educational experience more equitable for young people facing adversity.

The co-creation of ‘Words for All’ is an initiative that both Bolton Learning Partnership and Whole Education are particularly honoured to share.  Acknowledging that there is a ‘word gap’ in primary and secondary schools for many young people, member schools in Bolton came together with Whole Education to share a collaborative approach to working to resolve the ‘word gap’ together.  Through work within and between schools they share knowledge, expertise and approaches to deliver a language rich education.  They have gathered evidence of small-scale projects which impact upon students’ oracy, reading and writing skills.  Members are now cascading this knowledge across all of their secondary schools using Phase 1 leaders as local experts.  This is truly evidence of a self-improving system approach and one which members of Bolton Learning Partnership and Whole Education are proud to be a part, for the benefit of the 19K learners within Bolton.
